‘Big, strong, quick’ – Mikel Obi advises Chelsea to sign 26-year-old striker

Former Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi has endorsed Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres as the perfect signing for the Blues.

After his hat-trick heroics against Manchester City, Gyokeres has been linked to a January transfer, and Mikel insists the 26-year-old has all the qualities to thrive in the Premier League.

“Definitely,” Mikel said on The Obi One Podcast when asked if Gyökeres would succeed at Chelsea.

“For me, he is a Premier League player, he is a player that suits the Premier League.

“He has every attribute to be a Premier League player – strong, big, quick, and most importantly, goalscoring.”

Mikel highlighted Gyökeres’ impressive goal-scoring ratio, which he believes surpasses other top European strikers.

“He can score goals, and when you look at it, his goalscoring ratio is better than any striker right now in Europe. The stats are there to back it up.”

Chelsea are still reportedly keen on Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, but Gyokores may represent a more practical option for Enzo Maresca. Would the Swedish striker be a game-changer for the Blues? Time will tell.
