Bukayo Saka was substituted during Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, causing panic among the Gunners fanbase, and manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the winger’s condition.

Bukayo Saka was taken off with an apparent injury in Arsenal's 1-0 win over Tottenham

Despite being without key midfielders Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, the Gunners secured their third consecutive win at Spurs thanks to Gabriel’s stunning header.

However, the victory may have come at a cost, as Saka’s injury could worsen Arsenal’s already pressing injury crisis.

“I made two changes with the front players and suddenly Bukayo Saka is down,” Arteta explained post-match.

“So I looked at the bench and the options that we had, so we had to adapt. I don’t know exactly what it is, but he could not continue.”

Arteta also addressed captain Martin Odegaard’s recovery from a brutal ankle injury sustained while on international duty with Norway.

“Regarding Martin, we still have to wait and see the news. He certainly wasn’t available to play today.”

The Gunners travel to Italy to take on Atalanta in their UEFA Champions League opener, before a showdown against Manchester City at the Etihad.

Arteta will be hoping to have Saka back for both games, or at least, the game against City at the weekend.
