A dramatic day of CAF Champions League qualifying action delivered goals, upsets, and statement wins across the continent.

South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns produced a ruthless attacking display to crush Remo Stars of Nigeria 5–1 in Ikenne, underlining their continental pedigree.

The visitors were in full control throughout, with their experience and firepower proving too much for the Nigerian debutants.

Elsewhere, fellow South Africans Orlando Pirates suffered a shock 3–0 defeat away to St Eloi Lupopo in the Democratic Republic of Congo, leaving their qualification hopes hanging in the balance after a lacklustre defensive showing.

In Cameroon, Colombe held Algerian powerhouse MC Alger to a 1–1 draw, while Guinea’s Horoya AC shared the same scoreline with FAR Rabat of Morocco in a tightly contested affair.
