AC Milan started the new year on a rather frustrating and disappointing note as the Rossoneri dropped two points to Cagliari.
Milan came into the match on the back of winning the Italian Super Cup but failed to pick maximum points against a resolute Cagliari side.
Needless to say, Sérgio Conceição’s men dominated the game from start to finish but couldn’t score more than a goal.
Cagliari goalkeeper Elia Caprile was the man fashioned against Milan on the night as the 23-year-old Italian made a number of saves.
Alvaro Morata gave the home side the lead a few minutes into the second half from a rebound that fell to his feet.
Unfortunately, Milan’s lead didn’t last long as Nadir Zortea equalized moments later. It wasn’t the cleanest of strikes but it crossed the line to make it 1-1.
Elia Caprile made two great saves late in the game from Christian Pulisic and Theo Hernandez’s efforts toward goal.
The match ended on a frustrating note for Milan as they started the new year without maximum points on home turf.
Milan currently occupy the 8th spot on the log with 28 points after 18 matches in the Seria A.
