Calvin Bassey scored a fine winner as Fulham secured a crucial victory against Nottingham Forest at Craven Cottage.
Nottingham Forest’s strong season was put to the test against a spirited Fulham team. Adama Traoré proved to be a thorn in their side, skipping past Neco Williams and setting up Emile Smith-Rowe to break the deadlock.
Fulham had chances to double their lead, but Matz Sels denied Raúl Jiménez with an outstanding save.
However, Forest equalized before the break, with Chris Wood scoring his 18th league goal of the season.
Fulham regained their lead in the second half, with Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey scoring his first goal of the season from Jiménez’s flick-on. Forest struggled to create chances in the second half, and their hopes dwindled as Bernd Leno saved Callum Hudson-Odoi’s effort.
The defeat was only Forest’s second in their last 11 league matches, but it was a blow to their European hopes. Fulham’s victory, on the other hand, boosted their continental quest, moving them closer to the top seven.
