CHAN Eagles beat Grassrunners FC in friendly match ahead of qualifier against Ghana

Super Eagles team B – the CHAN Eagles defeated Grassrunners football club in a friendly match on Sunday ahead of the final round of the Championship of African Nations qualifier against Ghana.

Remo Stars Sports Stadium hosted the friendly match over the weekend as the team continue to prepare for the match against Ghana.

The CHAN Eagles edged Grassrunners 1-0 in a keenly contested match. Niger Tornadoes midfielder, Papa Daniel scored a penalty in added time to secure a late winner for the team.

According to a source online, the CHAN Eagles files out in a 3-5-2 formation with Musa Zayyad and Jide Fatokun as two of the three central midfielders  while Emmanuel Ogbole and Alimi Sikiru led the attack.

Remo Stars quartet of Kayode Bankole(GK), Alimi Sikiru, Jide Fatokun and Ismail Sodiq, Enugu Rangers’ defender Victor Collins, Kano Pillars midfielder Rabiu Alli were part of Austin Eguavoen’s starting line-up.

The CHAN Eagles will resume training on Monday as they build up to the first leg of the qualifier against Ghana in Accra, Ghana.

The Accra Sports Stadium will host the first leg on 22 December while the second leg will take place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on 28 December, 2024.
