It won’t be probably out of place to say that Chelsea have finally gotten their pound of flesh over Barcelona after a commanding display on Tuesday night.

For the average Chelsea fan, the wounds from the acclaimed controversial 2009 semi-final fixture against the Catalan is hard to heal.

Even though the context is different today, the Blues will be satisfied seeing their team decimate Barcelona on the same ground.

The one-sided affair saw Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea took apart Barcelona in convincing win over the La Liga champions.

An own-goal from Jules Conde gave Chelsea the lead  a few minutes into the break after sustained pressure on Barcelona.

Barcelona’s night went from bad to worse after captain Araujo picked up his second yellow card.

Substitute Rory Delap came off the bench to have a bite of cherry as he added the third goal to seal a comprehensive win.

In other results, Manchester City suffered their first home loss in the Champions League since 2018.

The former champions, off the loss to Newcastle United over the last weekend, Pep Guardiola fielded a seemingly weak side and paid for it.

Bayer Leverkusen sealed a famous win over Man City on Tuesday night.

Alejandro Grimaldo and Patrick Schick got on the scoresheet in each half respectively to give Bayer

Despite scoring first, Newcastle United fell to a 2-1 defeat to Marseille courtesy of Aubameyang’s brace. Borussia Dortmund dismantled Villarreal 4-0 while Napoli beat Qarabag 2-0.
