Chelsea have reached an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign Brazilian forward João Pedro in a deal valued at up to £60 million, including add-ons.
The 23-year-old has reportedly signed a seven-year contract that will run until 2032 and is expected to join the Chelsea squad ahead of their FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final match against Palmeiras. He will undergo a medical in the United States before being officially unveiled.
The deal includes a base fee of around £50–55 million, with an additional £5–10 million in performance-related add-ons. Brighton are also entitled to a percentage of any future sale, while former club Watford will receive approximately £6 million due to a sell-on clause included in Pedro’s initial move to Brighton.
João Pedro’s ability to operate both centrally and across the front line made him a key target for new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who is keen to build a dynamic, attacking side for the upcoming campaign.
The Brazilian enjoyed a standout 2024–25 season with Brighton, scoring 30 goals and registering 10 assists in 70 appearances since joining from Watford in 2023.
With the Club World Cup fast approaching, Chelsea accelerated the deal to ensure Pedro would be eligible to compete, with FIFA’s registration deadline set for July 3.
João Pedro is expected to make his Chelsea debut in Philadelphia in early July during the Club World Cup.
