Do your part, we do ours – Ajibade tells NFF ahead of WAFCON

Rasheedat Ajibade, captain of Nigeria senior women’s football team, the Super Falcons has urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to give the team adequate support ahead of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Ajibade says the team is in high spirits and are focused on winning a record 10th continental success.

However, the 25-year-old forward revealed that the NFF must ensure all things are in place for the Super Falcons to succeed in Morocco.

Ajibade who scored a brace in Super Falcons friendly match against Cameroon earlier in the month made her thoughts known in a chat with The Super Falcons Show.

There’s a lot of confidence in camp and we’re committed to our goal. We all understand what’s at stake,” Ajibade said on The Super Falcons Show.

“Every player heading to the tournament wants to compete and win. We will give everything on the pitch, but we also know that success depends on both internal and external factors.

“We’ll continue to do our part as players, but we hope everything behind the scenes is properly handled to help us perform at our best and ultimately bring the trophy home.”

Rasheedat Ajibade’s comments come at a time when the NFF have come under criticisms for not paying enough attention to the Super Falcons unlike the Super Eagles.

Part of the criticisms is lacking of adequate friendly matches especially in preparation for next month’s tournament.

In addition, the Super Falcons grip on women’s football on the continent has come under threat over the years with the likes of South Africa – reigning champions, Morocco, Zambia being considered as favorites.

The Super Falcons quest to win a 10th title begins next month as they take on Tunisia, Botswana and Algeria in the first round.
