Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team the DTigress are just one win away from creating history in women’s basketball on the continent.

Despite outscoring the defending champions 21-9 in the third quarter, the Otis Hughley’s side capitulated in the fourth as they managed just 10 points while the DTigress scored 23.
Ezinne kalu-phelps delivered her best performance yet in the tournament with 19 points and three assists.
While point guard Promise Amukamara and reigning MVP Amy Okonkwo scored 16 and 15 points in a thrilling affair in Abidjan.
Coach Rena Wakama’s ladies showed great resilence and masterclass defense in the final quarter to seal a 75-68 win.
The DTigress are now unbeaten in 28 matches over the last six editions of the Women’s Afrobasket dating back to 2015.
For a fifth consecutive Women’s Afrobasket title, the DTigress will take on the winner between Mali and South Sudan.
