French forward Hugo Ekitike has drawn attention on social media after updating his Instagram burner account bio to “Omo Olorun,” a Yoruba phrase that translates to “Child of God” or “Son of God.”
The change quickly caught the eye of fans, particularly Nigerian supporters, who flooded social media with reactions interpreting the meaning and possible significance behind the phrase. “Omo Olorun” is commonly used in Yoruba culture to express divine identity, gratitude, or spiritual grounding.
Ekitike, who has Nigerian heritage, has occasionally been linked with conversations around cultural identity, although he has represented France at youth international level. The latest update has reignited discussions among fans about his connection to Nigeria.
While the striker has not publicly explained the reason behind the bio change, the move has been widely embraced by Nigerian fans, many of whom see it as an acknowledgement to his roots.
