Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca slammed the referees’ decision not to send off Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez during their 1-1 draw on Sunday.
Martinez’s tackle on Cole Palmer left the Chelsea player needing ice in the changing room, sparking Maresca’s outrage.
“He was there in the changing room with ice. We’re waiting now,” Maresca said post-game.
“Hopefully, it’s nothing serious.”
The tackle sparked widespread controversy, with many fans believing Martinez deserved a red card.
Replays of the incident only added more fuel to the fire, with several pundits and viewers questioning how Martinez escaped a more severe punishment.
Numerous fans took to social media to express their disbelief, with many stating Martinez was “lucky” to remain on the pitch.
Maresca was adamant Martinez deserved a red card, not just a yellow.
“They showed me before the press conference, and I think it’s quite clear to almost everyone, but the referees didn’t take the decision.”
