Eric Chelle says his sole ambition is to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Chelle, while reacting to the draw on Monday says his squad is good enough and he has belief in them to lift the trophy in February 2026 after missing losing the final of the 2023 edition to host Cote D’Ivoire.

The 47-year-old manager however noted that the competition won’t be easy to win. He noted that the other 23 teams have good squads and coaches as well.

Nevertheless, Chelle says his team is on a revenge mission and the goal is to win the fourth title.

“Yes, it’s going to be difficult to win because there are 24 very good teams and some very good coaches,” Chelle told CAF Online.

“I know I’ve got a team that’s out for revenge, and I’m out for revenge too, so we’re going to have a lot of fun.

“We know what this team is capable of, and our goal is clear—to lift the trophy in Morocco.”

The Super Eagles will face 2004 champions Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania in Group C of the competition.

Nigeria will play Tanzania in their opening group match on 23 December at the newly renovated Fes Stadium, then Uganda four days later, before taking on Tunisia on 30 December all at the same venue.

The Super Eagles are expected to top the group and progress to the next round.

However, Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania all pose different levels of threats to the Super Eagles.

The Carthage Eagles knocked out the Super Eagles in the second round of the 2021 tournament while Uganda have an impressive head-to-head record against Nigeria with four wins, two losses and two draws in eight meetings.

Tanzania on the other hand have a poor record against Nigeria having lost five of their eight meetings with no victory. However, the Taifa Stars would look to prove a point as they make their fourth AFCON appearance.
