Etienne Eto’o: 3 things to know about Samuel Eto’o’s son and his rising football career

Etienne Eto’o, the 22-year-old son of legendary footballer Samuel Eto’o, is making significant strides in his professional career, mirroring the path of his illustrious father.

Currently playing as a forward for Rayo Vallecano B, Etienne’s recent performances have garnered attention, especially following his goal-scoring debut for the first team in the Copa del Rey.

Yet to make his LaLiga debut, the youngster has been named on the bench in the Rayo Vallecano’s clash against his father’s former team, Barcelona tonight.

On October 29, 2024, Etienne Eto’o made a memorable first-team debut for Rayo Vallecano during a Copa del Rey match against Villamuriel.

Entering the game in the 76th minute, he netted a goal in the 87th minute, contributing to Rayo’s commanding 5-0 victory. This performance echoed the goal-scoring legacy of his father.

 

2. Diverse Football Development

Etienne’s football journey has been marked by experiences across various clubs and countries. He has been part of youth setups at Mallorca, Atlético Baleares, and Oviedo in Spain.

In 2021, he signed with Portuguese side Vitória Guimarães, aiming to further his development with their U-23 team. These diverse stints have enriched his playing style and adaptability on the field.

 

3. International Representation

 

Beyond club football, Etienne has donned the national colors of Cameroon at the youth level, participating in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations held in Mauritania.
