Elsewhere, Portugal were surprisingly held to a 2–2 draw by Hungary, despite a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo, who became the all-time leading scorer in World Cup qualifiers with 41 goals. Dominik Szoboszlai struck late to deny Portugal an early ticket to the World Cup.
