The football schedule is packed with what seems like matches being played every single day. Not that we are complaining though and Wednesday provided us a dose of Europa League action and the conclusion of the third round of England’s Carabao Cup.
Dutch side AZ Alkmaar began the day with a 3-2 win over Elfsborg and Dynamo Kyiv lost 3-0 at home to Lazio. Real Sociedad came from a goal down to snatch a 1-1 draw with Ligue 1 side Nice, their first goal scored in three away games.
The biggest game of the night was at Old Trafford, where Manchester United stumbled to a 1-1 draw against Eredivisie side FC Twente.
Christian Eriksen opened the scoring for Erik ten Hag’s men, pouncing on a loose ball in the box and firing into the top corner for his third goal in two games. United had several chances to put the game to bed and were punished when Sam Lammers snatched the equalizer on 68 minutes.
