Everton rescue last-minute point to stall Liverpool’s title charge

Everton rescued a dramatic 2-2 draw against Premier League leaders Liverpool at Goodison Park in a thrilling Merseyside derby.

The Toffees took the lead in the 11th minute through Beto’s composed finish, but Liverpool equalized just five minutes later with Alexis Mac Allister’s impressive header from Mohamed Salah’s cross.

The game became a cagey affair, with Everton dealt a blow when star player Iliman Ndiaye was forced off injured before halftime.

Liverpool took the lead in the 67th minute through Salah’s rebound, but Everton’s wastefulness seemed costly until the eighth minute of stoppage time.

James Tarkowski scored a spectacular equalizer, rifling home after Tim Iroegbunam headed on Vitaliy Mykolenko’s cross. The goal survived a VAR check, sending Goodison wild and extending Everton’s unbeaten run in the Premier League to four matches.
