Flying Eagles midfielder Emmanuel Suleiman says the team is focused on winning their eighth continental title after securing qualification for the Under-20 World Cup.
The El-Kanemi Warriors midfielder had his first start of the tournament as the Flying Eagles beat Senegal 3-1 on penalties at the Suez Canal Stadium to secure qualification for the World Cup.
Emmanuel Suleiman expressed his delight after the victory over the defending champions. He added that the team will shift attention to winning the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
“I am very happy for the victory. It’s a dream come true for me to qualify for the World Cup, At this point, we just want to continue to focus on the subsequent matches so that we can win the AFCON”
The Flying Eagles will play South Africa in the semi-final on Thursday for a place in the final. Host, Egypt, will lock horns with Morocco in the other semi-final fixture.
Egypt knocked out Ghana on penalties, while Morocco edged Sierra Leone by a lone goal in extra time to qualify for the last four.
Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt, and Morocco will represent Africa at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Chile later in the year.
