Germany were crowned champions of EuroBasket 2025 after edging Turkey 88–83 in a pulsating final on Sunday night, a contest that swung back and forth until the very last seconds in Riga.
The game was defined by intensity and drama, with 15 lead changes and 11 ties reflecting how little separated the two sides. Turkey, powered by Alperen Şengün’s 28 points, had one hand on the trophy late in the fourth quarter before Germany’s experience told.
Tournament MVP, Dennis Schröder produced a cold-blooded jumper with just 18.7 seconds left to give his side the lead, then calmly sank two free throws after Turkey’s last-ditch three-point attempt fell short.
Germany’s balanced scoring was crucial. Isaac Bonga delivered 20 points in a performance that combined efficiency with defensive grit, while Schröder once again showed why he has become the leader of this golden German generation.
The victory completes a remarkable double for Germany, adding the EuroBasket crown to the FIBA World Cup title they won in 2023.
Earlier in the bronze-medal game, Greece defeated Finland 92–89 to return to the podium for the first time since 2009. Led by coach, Vassilis Spanoulis, Greece built a strong halftime cushion and resisted a furious Finnish rally in the closing minutes.
For Finland, despite falling just short, their fourth-place finish represents the best in their history and a statement of intent on the European stage.
