Javier Zanetti, Inter Milan’s legendary former captain and current vice‑president, has shared humorous and revealing memories of his former teammate Taribo West during Instagram Live sessions, particularly alongside Christian Vieri.
Zanetti recalled an incident where Taribo simply vanished for the entire month of January, only to reappear in early February explaining:
“I got married; in my country, a month of vacation is expected.”
Another time, Taribo invited Zanetti and teammates to his home for what was supposed to be dinner and turned it into a marathon spiritual session.
According to Zanetti: “We arrived at around 8 or 9 PM, and then he prayed—an hour, two hours, three hours. We left without dinner!”
Zanetti described him as “unique” and unforgettable, a teammate whose devotion to faith often overshadowed the more ordinary routines expected of a professional footballer.

Taribo West represented Inter Milan from 1997 to 1999. He made over 40 appearances, scored a few goals (including a Europa League quarter‑final winner), and played a key role in helping Inter win the 1997–98 UEFA Cup in the all‑Italian final against Lazio.
