Manchester United legend Gary Neville has defended Marcus Rashford after the striker put up another disappointing display in the Red Devils’ 2-1 win over Viktoria Plzen on Thursday night.
Rashford was taken off by Ruben Amorim in the 56th minute, and his replacement Rasmus Hojlund went on to score a brace to help United seal the win.
This was the third straight poor performance from Rashford, who was used as a substitute against Nottingham Forest last weekend.
Neville believes Rashford, who scored 30 goals in Erik ten Hag’s first season, can return to his absolute best.
“Rashford is a 30-goal striker and winger, and we have not gotten that from him this season,” Neville said.
“Manchester United still have a problem with scoring goals, and they need to get the best out of him.
“He is someone who can score 20 to 30 goals, and Amorim has to get him back to being that guy.”
