I am focused on winning — Man Utd boss Amorim after Brentford defeat

Manchester United suffered their third defeat in six Premier League games as Brentford defeated them 3-1 at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The loss was sealed by an Igor Thiago double and a stoppage-time strike from Mathias Jensen.

Slovenia striker Benjamin Sesko briefly reduced the Bees’ early lead with his first goal for United. However, the misery piled on the Red Devils when Bruno Fernandes missed his second penalty of the season.

After Jensen settled the matter late on, manager Ruben Amorim was forced to endure chants of “you’re getting sacked in the morning” from the jubilant Brentford supporters.

Amorim, who is yet to record back-to-back league wins during his ten months in charge at Old Trafford, reflected on his side’s inconsistency.

“Ups and downs, when you win, you feel the momentum is here,” said Amorim, whose side had beaten Chelsea just last weekend.

“When you lose, you go back to the same place and fight for the one win that can help you to create the momentum.”

Addressing the immense pressure and the focus on his future, the manager maintained confidence in his work. “I am always doing my job. If I win, I’m in a different state of mind, but I am always confident because I know what to do.

“I am trying to do my best for the club and the team, thinking about what is best to win the next game. Not to protect the players or myself, but to  win the next game and create the momentum.”
