Sonia Ighalo, the ex-wife of Nigerian footballer Odion Jude Ighalo, has responded to ongoing social media speculation regarding the circumstances of their separation.
In a strongly worded statement shared via her Instagram story, Sonia addressed claims suggesting that the former Super Eagles striker left her due to her alleged behaviour.
In the post, she wrote: “Just to clarify, I divorced your favourite. I left the marriage and filed for divorce. This narrative that he left me because of my behaviour is false.”
Her response comes amid repeated comments from social media users implying that her character was the reason for the end of their marriage.
Sonia, who has remained vocal on social media since their split, further expressed frustration over the constant misrepresentation of events surrounding their separation.
While she refrained from going into further detail about the reasons for the divorce, her statement was aimed at correcting what she described as a “misleading narrative.”
Jude Ighalo, currently playing professional football in Saudi Arabia, has largely remained silent on issues concerning his personal life.
The couple were previously known for their family-oriented posts before their relationship began showing signs of strain several years ago. They share children together, though it is unclear how custody arrangements are handled.
