Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has definitively stated his plans to return to the dugout.

The former World Player of the Year has confirmed that he is targeting the prestigious job of France national team manager as his ultimate goal.

The 53-year-old, who has not taken charge of any team since he stepped away from the LaLiga giants in 2021, has turned down multiple club offers during his extended break, preferring to wait for the right opportunity.

Speaking at the Festival Dello Sport, Zidane openly discussed his future ambitions:

He then clarified his specific focus, confirming the long-standing speculation linking him with the national role currently held by Didier Deschamps:

“My desire is to become France head coach one day… let’s see.”

The timing aligns with widespread speculation that Deschamps could step down from his post with Les Bleus following the 2026 World Cup.

Given Zidane’s immense success at Real Madrid, including three consecutive Champions League titles, he is widely considered the natural and ideal successor to lead his country.
