Kelechi Iheanacho scored and assisted as Bursaspor came from behind to beat Kayserispor 2-1 in the Turkish 1. Lig on Saturday, extending his remarkable start to life in Turkey. Florent Hasani had put Kayserispor ahead from the penalty spot in the 31st minute, sending the home side into the break with the lead.
Bursaspor responded quickly after the restart. Iheanacho drew Kayserispor’s defence into an error and converted from the penalty spot in the 58th minute, levelling the score and swinging the momentum firmly in the visitors’ favour.
The Nigerian forward then turned provider just under 20 minutes later. He set up Alperen Babacan, who fired Bursaspor in front in the 77th minute and sealed all three points on the road.
Kayserispor, who had won their opening three matches of the season, suffered their first defeat of the campaign and stay on nine points. Bursaspor moved level on points with their hosts, climbing to second place on goal difference after picking up their third win in four league outings.
Iheanacho’s involvement continues an outstanding run since arriving in Turkey following his Celtic exit. He has now scored in every league appearance for Bursaspor and has racked up four goals and two assists across his first four matches, numbers that already place him among the division’s most productive forwards.
Bursaspor will host Istanbulspor in their next league fixture, while Kayserispor travel to face Fatih Karagümrük as both sides look to bounce back into form.
