According to reports, former head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles Jose Peseiro is set to take the reins at Egyptian club Zamalek.
Peseiro is expected to succeed Christian Gross, who recently parted ways with the club.
This move marks the Portuguese tactician’s return to Egyptian football. He previously managed Al Ahly during the 2015/16 season.
Under Peseiro’s guidance, the Super Eagles finished second at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, losing to hosts Ivory Coast in a thrilling final.
Peseiro’s contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) expired in February 2024, paving the way for his reported move to Zamalek.
Interestingly, Nigerian football legend Emmanuel Amuneke also has a history with 5-time CAF Champions League winners Zamalek, having played for the club between 1991 and 1994. During his time there, Amuneke scored 26 goals in 71 appearances and won several titles, including the Egyptian Premier League and the African Cup of Champions Clubs.
