Jurgen Klopp has pledged to host Liverpool players, past and present to a beer party at this residence in Mallorca, Spain if Manchester City are found guilty of the 115 FFP charges filed by the Premier League against the defending champions.

Manchester City are currently being investigated by independent commission of three judges appointed by the independent chair of the Premier League Judicial Panel.

The Premier League accuse Manchester City of not providing accurate financial information to give the league a “true and fair view” of its revenues, operating cost among others.

Manchester City are also being accused of beaching European soccer body FFP rules between 2013-2018.

The Premier League also contend that Manchester City didn’t cooperate with the league during investigation which started in 2018.

On the flipside, Jurgen Klopp finished second twice behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City: 2018-19 and again in 2021-22 and the German is already hoping his former rivals will be found guilty, thereby hosting a beer party for his former players.

Klopp also promised to do a trophy parade in his garden with the players.

“We had this discussion when I left. I haven’t spent a lot of time in Mallorca because I am always flying around the place. But if it would happen, I told all the people who wanted to [come]: ‘Just book a flight to Mallorca. I will buy the beer!’

“We’d have our own parade in my garden. Oh God… what a headline! We will see. I didn’t follow (the narrative of the case) at all. It could be two months (away from a finding)? Wow.”

Verdict of the Investigation

Investigations have been concluded since December 16 last year. It was conducted privately and it lasted for 12 weeks.

The Premier League was represented by Adam Lewis KC according to reports in the British media while David Pannick led City’s defence.

The hearing wasn’t a court case so it held privately at a location reportedly in London.

Verdict is yet to be pronounced but reports suggest that it could be pronounced soon or before the end of next season.

What happens if Manchester City are found guilty?

If the champions are found guilty of some or all the charges, they could face huge fines, points deductions being stripped off the Premier League titles they won between 2009 and 2023.

Manchester City could also be demoted from the Premier League in a worse case scenario.

The Cityzens got banned from the Champions League in 2020 for two years for overstating sponsorship revenue between 2012 and 2016 but they successfully appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sports.
