The CAF Confederation Cup First Preliminary Round continued on Saturday, 27 September, with five clubs booking their places in the Second Preliminary Round.

In Johannesburg, Kaizer Chiefs overcame a first-leg deficit against Angola’s Kabuscorp, leveling the aggregate before winning 5–4 in a tense penalty shootout. Goalkeeper Brandon Petersen was the hero, saving the decisive spot-kick to send the South African giants through.

Kenya’s Nairobi United advanced on away goals after a 1–1 draw with Uganda’s NEC FC. Duncan Omalla’s crucial strike ensured the debutants continued their impressive continental campaign.

Académie de FAD (AFAD) delivered one of the day’s standout performances in Abidjan, defeating Senegal’s Génération Foot 5–3 to secure a commanding aggregate victory. Fellow Ivorians San Pédro also progressed, drawing 2–2 with Cameroon’s Aigle Royal to advance 3–2 on aggregate, showing consistency across both legs.

Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars completed Saturday’s list of qualifiers with a 2–1 win over Rwanda’s Rayon Sports, sealing a 3–1 aggregate triumph and marking themselves as potential dark horses in the competition.

These results follow earlier qualifications by Ferroviário de Maputo (Mozambique), Royal Leopards (Eswatini), and KMKM (Zanzibar). More second-leg fixtures are set for Sunday, promising further drama as clubs fight for a place in the next round.
