‘Kane easier to play with than Lewandowski’ – Coman

Bayern Munich winger, Kingsley Coman has provided insight into the contrasting playing styles of current teammate Harry Kane and former colleague Robert Lewandowski.

Coman, who has had the opportunity to play alongside both strikers at Bayern Munich, noted distinct differences in their approaches on the field.

He observed that Lewandowski often demands more crosses and prefers the team to play in a way that caters to his strengths. In contrast, Kane is perceived as less selfish, contributing more to the overall gameplay and facilitating team dynamics.

Speaking to Rio Ferdinand on Rio Ferdinand Presents, Coman said, “They are pretty similar, but I would say Harry has a bit more impact in the game. He’s in the game building, while Lewy is really a box striker. He can also really keep the ball good and everything, but I would say Harry can really drop and can play almost like as a 10 or midfielder, brings the ball up sometimes so obviously sometimes he’s less in the box”

He continued, “Harry has more of this capacity while Lewandowski can drop also a little bit, but he has to be in the box, so he cannot drop as much as Harry”.

“Lewandowski constantly demands the ball and more crosses, so you essentially play for him. Kane, on the other hand, involves wingers in the game, creates attacks, provides assists, and finishes brilliantly. For me, there’s no easier striker to play with than Harry Kane,” Coman remarked.

Lewandowski joined the Bundesliga giants from rivals, Borussia Dortmund in 2014, spending eight successful years before departing for Barcelona in the summer of 2022. Kane joined Bayern from Tottenham in 2023 as his replacement and has scored 64 goals in his first 65 appearances for the club.
