Rookie forward, Kiki Iriafen notched 10 points and 10 rebounds in Sunday’s 74–69 win over the Seattle Storm, earning her seventh double-double of the season and setting a new Washington Mystics franchise record for most by a rookie.
The previous record of six was shared by WNBA legend Chamique Holdsclaw, a mark Iriafen tied earlier in the week before surpassing it in style.
Drafted fourth overall in 2025 out of USC, Iriafen has wasted no time making her presence felt in the league. She previously made history in May by becoming the first Mystics rookie to register four consecutive double-doubles and was later named WNBA Rookie of the Month.
She also became the fastest rookie in franchise history to reach 100 points and 80 rebounds, doing so in just eight games.
Her performances haven’t gone unnoticed. Alongside teammate Sonia Citron, Iriafen was named a 2025 WNBA All-Star reserve, marking the first time since 1999 that two rookies from the same team have earned All-Star selections in the same season.
With averages of roughly 12.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, she continues to rank among the league’s best rebounders and is a frontrunner for Rookie of the Year honors.
Iriafen’s steady contributions and strong presence in the paint are quickly establishing her as a key part of Washington’s future and a rising star in the WNBA.
