Unfortunately, Kylian Mbappe’s strike from the 12 yards was saved by Caoimhim Kelleher as Madrid’s struggles comtinued in the game.

Mo Salah wastes the opportunity to doubel Liverpool’s lead at the other end moments later as he also missed from the spot.

However, substitute Cody put the match beyond the champions as he planted a fine header into the net from Andy Robertson’s cross.

The defeat put Real Madrid’s chances of qualifying for the next round at risk as they sink to the last spot of the playoffs.

The Reds sit comfortably at the top of the log with 15 points after 5 games and are in pole position to secure automatic qualification for the second round.
