Liverpool Football Club are reportedly in advanced talks to sign French forward Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, with Darwin Nunez set to make a move away from Anfield this summer.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Newcastle has already pulled out of the race to sign the 23-year-old striker after their proposal for rejected.
Liverpool are now progressing in talks to sign the former Paris Saint-Germain player after agreeing personal terms with him.
Eintracht Frankfurt had initially rejected Liverpool’s first bid for Hugo Ekitike, but talks continue between both clubs, with the player keen to make the move.
Hugo Ekitike had quite an impressive outing for the German Bundesliga outfit last season with 22 goals in 48 matches. He was also named in the 2024/2025 Bundesliga Team of the Season.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are also in contact with Newcastle to sign Swedish striker Alexander Isak as Arne Slot looks to fortify his squad for the Premier League title defense and major honours next season.
Newcastle have reportedly told Liverpool that Isak is not for sale, even though the Reds are preparing a £120 million proposal for the 25-year-old striker.
Alexander Isak had a stellar 2024/2025 season with Newcastle as he scored 27 goals in 42 matches for the Toons.
Isak scored in the 2-1 victory over defending champions Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final to help Newcastle win their first title since 1955.
