Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye swapped the football pitch for the Formula One paddock as he played a special role during qualifying for the 2026 British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
The Udinese shot-stopper was invited to present the prestigious Pirelli Pole Position Award to Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli after the Italian produced a stunning lap to claim pole position.
Antonelli topped the qualifying session with a fastest lap of 1:28.111, securing his place at the front of the grid for Sunday’s race.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc finished second fastest, while seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton completed the top three in qualifying.
Okoye’s appearance at one of Formula One’s most iconic events highlighted the growing crossover between football and motorsport, with the Nigerian international joining the post-qualifying celebrations at Silverstone.
