Two first half goals from Jack Grealish and Omar Marmoush secured a comfortable win for Manchester City over struggling Leicester City.
Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi played his game since his return from the March international break with the Super Eagles.
Ndidi played for 90 minutes in the 2-0 loss as Ruud Van Nisterooy’s men continue to draw closer to the English Championship ahead of next season.
The defending champions came into the fixture after defeating Bournemouth in the FA Cup last 8 and the absence of Erling Haaland due to injury.
However, the absence of the Norwegian striker didn’t affect the champions as Grraalish and Marmoush steeped up.
Grealish gave the home side the lead two minutes into match as he latched on to a precise pass from Savinho before placing the ball into the bottom corner.
Leicester City’s “Achilles heel” – poor defense,.led to the second goal after one of the defenders failed to make a clearance.
Consequently, Omar Marmoush took advantage as doubled Manchester United’s lead just before the half hour mark.
With the damage done already in the first half, the second saw Pep Guardiola’s men slowed the tempo as held on to the lead to the end.
The win put Manchester City in contention to qualify for the Champions League next season as they occupy the fourth spot 51 points.
However, Leicester City’s battle with relegation continues as they remain 19th on the log with just 17 points.
