Ryan Gravenberch changed the course of the match after getting his marching orders in the second half. Booked in the eighth minute, the Liverpool midfielder picked up a second yellow card in the 47th and was sent off. His side held City out for another 18 minutes, but City then scored in the 65th, 68th and 78th minutes.
Liverpool fall to ninth on nine points, with two wins, three draws and a defeat. Arne Slot’s side must now manage without Gravenberch for their trip to Brentford next Saturday.
Crystal Palace beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 at Selhurst Park. The win lifts Palace to 12th on seven points and leaves Forest 14th on five, with one win from six.
Hull City and Everton drew 2-2 at the MKM Stadium in a lively game. Everton stay fifth on 10 points and unbeaten with two wins and four draws, while promoted Hull sit eighth on nine.
Man City top the table from Arsenal, who trail by three points, while Brighton sit third on 13. Spurs, Bournemouth, Coventry and Fulham fill the bottom four.
