Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag given two games to save job

Erik ten Hag is expected to remain as Manchester United manager for the trip to Porto on Thursday and the visit to Aston Villa on Sunday, despite the humiliating 3-0 defeat by Tottenham on Sunday.

According to reports, United’s executives are well aware that this is a pivotal week for the Dutch manager, who must reverse his side’s alarming slide.

The Old Trafford loss left United 13th in the Premier League with a disappointing seven points from six matches and a goal difference of -3, having scored a paltry five goals.

The defeat marked United’s second consecutive 3-0 home loss in the league, following the dismal display against Liverpool on 1 September. The mood at the club is calm but there’s a growing recognition that Ten Hag’s position will come under intense scrutiny if results don’t improve.

United’s winless run now stretches to three games, with just three victories from eight matches in all competitions this season.

Defeat in one or both of the upcoming games, particularly if accompanied by another underwhelming performance, could seal Erik ten Hag’s fate.

The pressure is mounting, and this week’s fixtures will be crucial in determining the manager’s long-term prospects.
