Manchester United in talks with ex-Barcelona manager to replace Ten Hag

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, is still under pressure despite Saturday’s win over Brentford.

The club have been looking at other options, and former Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez is now in the mix.

According to the DailyMail, United representatives have talked to Xavi twice in recent months. Last Thursday, a team led by CEO Omar Berrada flew to Spain to discuss the possibility.

Xavi left Barcelona last season and has made it clear his priority is to coach abroad, making a move to the English Premier League an appealing prospect.

Red Devils co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, admits the team isn’t doing well enough, but maintains it’s not his decision to sack the manager.

Ten Hag knows he needs to turn things around fast. If not, speculation about his job will continue.

The win over Brentford provides temporary relief, but Xavi’s availability gives United a backup plan.

Manchester United face a packed schedule this week. They travel to Fenerbahce, managed by former boss Jose Mourinho, in the Europa League on Thursday, followed by a Premier League clash away to West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday.
