See what Nigerians are saying after Ademola Lookman's goal was ruled out in Nigeria's win against Libya in an AFCON 2025 qualifier.

In a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, qualifying encounter against Libya in Uyo Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s goal in the 86th minute was enough to give the Super Eagles of Nigeria all three points.

The entire game was a chess encounter as the Super Eagles were stifled by the Mediterranean Knights’ valiant defense at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

There was a controversial moment in the game that could have cost the Super Eagles all three points if Dele Bashiru did not score late.

In the 83rd minute, Lookman appeared to have given Nigeria the lead with a skillfully executed strike, but the goal was ruled out due to a decision by the officials.

After exchanging one-two passes with Samuel Chukwueze of AC Milan, the Atalanta winger skillfully placed the ball beyond Libyan goalkeeper Murad Al Wuheeshi.

The decision surprised Oparanozie, a former striker for the Super Falcons, who wondered why a goal like that would be ruled out.

2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner, Kenneth Omeruo, was also unimpressed with the decision of the Malawian officiating crew.

Nigerians have taken to social media to tell the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) to ensure such errors do not happen again.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria return to action in Benina against Libya on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
