In the ongoing World Athletics Championship, Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan broke the women’s 100m hurdles record in the semi-final in 12.12 seconds to surpass America’s Kendra Harrison who held the record with the of 12.20 which she achieved in 2016.
Later on in the finals, she went a step closer by breaking her personal best record to win gold in the finals at a time of 12.06 to give Nigeria her first ever World Championship gold medal.

It was an incredible night for Amusan who couldn’t hold back her tears when she was in the podium. She will take home a prize money of $100,000 for breaking the world record in the semi final race.
