Ruben Amorim has provided a candid explanation for Marcus Rashford’s prolonged absence from Manchester United’s lineup.
The 27-year-old has not featured in the team’s last nine matches across all competitions.
Following Sunday’s defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford, Amorim was questioned about his decision to leave Rashford out.
Initially, he responded with a simple “no” when asked if he felt disappointed or let down by Rashford’s absence.
However, when pressed further, Amorim offered a more detailed explanation. Hee said: “Guys. It is his choice [not to play].”
Amorim emphasized that he doesn’t want to dwell on the negative aspects of Rashford’s absence, particularly in light of the team’s recent losses.
“I don’t want to focus on this bad moment because in the games we lost, Rashford is not here,” he explained.
The Portuguese manager reiterated that he won’t compromise his team’s interests by selecting a player he doesn’t believe is the best option.
“Rashford is out of this moment because he is not playing. No matter what, I am not going to put out a player I don’t believe is the best for the team.”
