Galatasaray secured a 2-1 victory over arch-rivals Fenerbahçe in the Turkish Cup quarterfinals on Tuesday, at Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium. Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen was instrumental, netting both goals in the first half.
Osimhen opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a powerful finish inside the box. He doubled the lead in the 27th minute by converting a penalty after a teammate was fouled in the area.
Fenerbahçe responded just before halftime, with Sebastian Szymański finding the net in the 45th minute. Despite increased pressure and possession in the second half, Fenerbahçe couldn’t break through Galatasaray’s disciplined defense.
The match was characterized by its physicality and emotional intensity, typical of the fierce Istanbul derby. Several players received bookings, and the atmosphere in the stands was electric.
With this victory, Galatasaray advances to the Turkish Cup semifinals, maintaining their pursuit of domestic silverware alongside their Süper Lig title ambitions.
Osimhen’s performance continues his impressive form, marking his sixth goal in the last seven matches. In total, he has netted 28 goals in 32 appearances for Galatasaray this season.
