Former Manchester United and France defender Patrice Evra is set to make his Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) debut at the age of 43.

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) announced that Evra will step into the cage at PFL Europe 2, scheduled for May 23, 2025, at the Accor Arena in Paris.

Evra, who retired from professional football in 2019 after a decorated career that included five Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League win with Manchester United, has been training in combat sports since 2016.

He has worked closely with PFL star Cédric Doumbé to prepare for his transition into MMA.

While his opponent has not yet been confirmed, Evra humorously suggested former football rival Luis Suárez as a potential candidate, referencing their infamous 2011 incident when Suárez was banned for eight matches after racially abusing Evra during a Premier League match.
