Premier League roundup: Liverpool, Arsenal share points, Chelsea back to winning ways

Liverpool secured a vital 2-2 draw against title rivals Arsenal at the Emirates, thanks to a late equaliser from Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah.

Arsenal started strong, with Bukayo Saka netting a brilliant ninth-minute opener, slipping past Andy Robertson and powering a shot past Caoimhín Kelleher. Liverpool responded quickly, with Virgil van Dijk celebrating his 100th game as captain by heading in from a well-executed corner in the 18th minute.

Just before halftime, The hosts reclaimed the lead when Mikel Merino headed in Declan Rice’s pinpoint free-kick. Despite injuries to Gabriel and Jurrien Timber, the hosts controlled much of the second half and looked the likelier side to win but Liverpool, who were far from their best, took advantage of a late chance, with Salah slotting home in the 81st minute from Darwin Nunez’s pass.

The result leaves Liverpool second, just a point behind Manchester City, while Arsenal moves up to third, trailing Liverpool by four points and City by five.

Elsewhere, Chelsea defeated Newcastle 2-1 with goals from Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer canceling out Alexander Isak’s 32nd-minute strike.
