PSG demolish Atalanta to begin title defense as Van Dijk snatches late header sinks Atleti

Reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain started their title defense on a fantastic note as they brushed Atalanta aside at the Parc Des Princes on Wednesday night.

PSG were more than a handful for Ivan Juric’s men in both halves of the match as they succumbed to comprehensive a 4-nil thrashing.

Club captain Marquinhos and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored in the first half to give Luiz Enrique’s men a comfortable lead despite Bradley Barcola’s missed penalty just before the break.

Nuno Mendes and substitute Goncalo Ramos got on the scoresheet in the second half to round off a fantastic night in Paris for the champions.

Van Dijk’s late winner breaks Atleti’s hearts

Virgil Van Dijk header from Dominik Szoboszlai’s corner kick in added time gave Liverpool the win over Atletico Madrid at Anfield.

The Reds has earlier taken a two-goal lead seven minutes into the tie courtesy of Andy Robertson and Mohammed Salah as many thought it was going to be a blow out.

However, Diego Someone’s men fought back and got back into the tie from a two-goal deficit.

Marcos Llorente’s brace – one in each half, brought Atletico Madrid back into the tie to the dismay of the home fans who are not unfamiliar with such occurrence.

With less than five minutes to the end of the tie, Virgil van Dijk rose tall in the box to give Liverpool the lead and the winner as Anfield erupted in cacophony.

Marcus Thuram powers Inter Milan over Ajax

The French striker bagged a brace to help Inter Milan breeze past 1994 champions Ajax Amsterdam.

Thuram scored late a few minutes before the end of the first half and into the second half to secure maximum points for the visitors.
