Rangers showcased their resilience with a hard-fought 3-1 comeback win against Dundee United at Tannadice Park.
Despite falling behind early, the Scottish giants responded with an attacking display that highlighted their growing confidence under manager Philippe Clement.
Dundee United began the match with an aggressive, high-pressing approach that unsettled Rangers in the opening minutes. The hosts were rewarded for their intensity when Sam Dalby found the net after latching onto a loose ball in the Rangers’ box. The goal came from a well-orchestrated counterattack, with United exploiting gaps left in Rangers’ midfield.
Despite the early setback, Rangers gradually found their rhythm, with Mohamed Diomande and John Lundstram asserting control in midfield. The equalizer came through Diomande, who combined with James Tavernier down the right flank before driving into the box and finishing with precision beyond the Dundee United goalkeeper.
As the half progressed, Rangers dominated possession and created several chances, with Cyriel Dessers and Todd Cantwell coming close to giving the visitors the lead. However, Dundee United’s defense held firm, with goalkeeper Jack Walton making a couple of crucial saves to keep the scores level at halftime.
Rangers emerged from the break and wasted no time in asserting their dominance. Robin Pröpper, who had been a key figure in Rangers’ build-up play, found himself in the right place at the right time to slot home a well-placed cross from Borna Barišić.
Dundee United attempted to mount a response but any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Cyriel Dessers extended Rangers’ lead with a clinical finish following a swift counterattack. The Nigerian forward received a perfectly weighted pass from Todd Cantwell and confidently slotted the ball into the bottom corner.
For Rangers, this victory serves as a significant morale boost as they continue their pursuit of league leaders Celtic.
