Sunday’s games in La Liga between Real Madrid vs Athletic club and that of Granada vs Athletico de Madrid for matchday 9 has been postponed, it was confirmed by the Spanish Higher Sports Council (CSD) after a request from the league body to postpone both matches.

The postponement of these games is happening because CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying matches will be played till the night of Thursday October 14 which would be the early hours of Friday in Spain and with the likes of Brazil and Argentina keeping their European based players for these qualifiers that automatically rules players of these club sides out of this weekend games.

Both games will now be rescheduled for another date just like it happened last month when the match between Barcelona’s and Sevilla was postponed.

If the decision was not upheld, both sides will be missing players like Vinicius, Valverde, Rodrygo, Militao, De Paul, Correa, Jimenez just to mention a few. The new rescheduled date will be announced by La Liga in a couple of days.
