Real Madrid win El Clásico as Celta stun Osasuna and Rayo strike late

Real Madrid earned a vital victory over Barcelona in a thrilling El Clásico on Saturday, while Celta Vigo produced an impressive comeback at Osasuna.

Rayo Vallecano snatched a dramatic late win against Alavés, and Mallorca were held at home by Levante in a tense evening of La Liga action.

Real Madrid 2–1 Barcelona

At the Santiago Bernabéu, Real Madrid came from behind to defeat rivals Barcelona and move five points clear at the top of the table.

Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring for Madrid in the 22nd minute, combining superbly with Jude Bellingham. Barcelona levelled through Fermín López after a defensive lapse, but Bellingham restored Madrid’s lead just before half-time with a fine finish from the edge of the box.

The visitors’ frustration deepened when Pedri was sent off late on, and Real comfortably held on for a morale-boosting win — their first El Clásico victory in more than a year.

The result cements Xabi Alonso’s side as early favourites in the title race, while Barcelona’s patchy start to their title defence continues.

Osasuna 2–3 Celta Vigo

Celta Vigo fought back from 2–1 down to claim a dramatic 3–2 win away at Osasuna in Pamplona.

Ferran Jutglà fired Celta ahead early on before Ante Budimir equalised from the spot and added a second to put the hosts in front. Celta responded with determination as Jutglà grabbed his brace and Pablo Durán struck the decisive goal midway through the second half.

The result lifts Celta out of the relegation zone and delivers a much-needed boost to Rafael Benítez’s men, while Osasuna were left to rue defensive lapses and a missed opportunity at home.

Rayo Vallecano 1–0 Alavés

In Madrid, Rayo Vallecano left it late to overcome Deportivo Alavés. Substitute Alexandre Alemão scored the winner in stoppage time, heading home from a corner in the 91st minute to seal all three points.

It was a reward for Rayo’s persistence after dominating possession but struggling to break down a disciplined Alavés defence. The victory moves Rayo into the top half of the table, while Alavés remain searching for their first away win of the campaign.

Mallorca 1–1 Levante

At Son Moix, Mallorca and Levante shared the points in a balanced 1–1 draw.

Karl Etta Eyong put Levante ahead midway through the first half, capitalising on a quick counter-attack, before Pablo Maffeo equalised for Mallorca in the 79th minute with a close-range finish.

Both teams had chances late on but failed to find a winner. The result leaves them level on points in the lower half of the table, each still seeking consistency.
