Morgan Rodgers scored twice – two brilliant goals to give Aston Villa victory over Manchester United at Villa Park on Sunday evening.

Rodgers cane into the tie off his brilliant performance against Westham United where he bagged a brace.

The English midfielder scored in each half of the tie to help the Villans maintain their grip on third spot with a 2-1 victory.

Rodgers gave the host the lead just before the break as he went past a couple of his markers before burying the the ball into the top corner.

However, Mattheus Cunha scored in almost similar fashion after he received a pass from Danish, defender Patrick Dorgu close to Aston Villa’s goal area.

The Brazilian midfielder placed the ball in the far post to register his third Premier League of the season for the Red Devils.

Aston Villa regained the lead again fourteen minutes into the second half courtesy of Morgan Rodgers.

The 23-year-old reveived a pass in the box from Ollie Watkins before calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

Cunha almost restored parity for the visitors a few minutes later but his header went narrowly off target.

Shea Lacey, the 18-year-old forward made his Premier League debut with less than six minutes to the end of regular time as he came on for Leny Yoro.

Lacey had a shot on target late in the game but it lacked power to trouble Emiliano Martinez in goal as Aston Villa extended their winning streak to 10 matches in all competitions.

Aston Villa remain third on the log, with three points off league leaders, Arsenal who have 39 points after Saturday’s win over Everton.
