Ruud Van Nisterooy’s time as manager at Manchester United has come to an end as the legend will not be part of Ruben Amorim’s coaching staff.

The future of the former Red Devils striker at the club was in doubt following the announcement of the Portuguese as the new coach.

It’s now confirmed that Nisterooy stay at Old Trafford is over as Ruben Amorim prefers to work with his backroom staff from Sporting Lisbon.

Manchester United put out a statement confirming the departure of Ruud Van Nisterooy and the first team coaching staff on its official website,

Ruben Amorim

“Manchester United can confirm that Ruud van Nistelrooy has left the club. Ruud rejoined in the summer and has taken charge of the team for the past four matches as interim head coach.”

Ruben Amorim and his staff have already arrived Manchester ahead of the official unveiling.

The 39-year-old was greeted with a hug from chief executive Omar Berrada, by sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox outside of the men’s first team building.

Ruben Amorim has less than two weeks to prepare the team ahead of his first match in charge of the team – a Premier League fixture away to Ipswich Town on Sunday 24 November.
