Victor Osimhen scored a brace to help the Super Eagles of Nigeria defeat Rwanda 2-0 in their 2026 World Cup qualifier.
This was a must-win game for Nigeria, and especially for new boss Eric Chelle, who was aiming to start his tenure with a bang.

Under immense pressure, Nigeria delivered a composed performance to silence the home crowd at the Amahoro Stadium.
Victor Osimhen opened the scoring in the 25th minute, tapping home a well-delivered freekick from Ademola Lookman.
Moses Simon nearly doubled the tally moments later, but his powerful effort was superbly saved by Rwanda’s goalkeeper, Fiacre Ntwari. Nigeria remained in control, and their dominance paid off again in the 40th minute.
Samuel Chukwueze’s delightful pass found Osimhen, who showed incredible composure to chip the ball past Ntwari for his second goal of the game – and his 25th international goal for the Super Eagles.
